CASA ANTIGA OPEN HOUSE Sculptures and photographs that immortalize a humble historical building that still stands for its heritage. A challenge that has been the most involving, intricate and consuming journey. Narratives were woven through bricks, stones, tiles, cement and plaster. Remote corners were discovered hidden around Portugal where few artisans struggle to keep producing their art. The most revealing learning process of perceiving the direct impact construction choices - including design, materials, processes and techniques – have on the environment. Building through sustainable lenses and valuing otherwise lost in time craftsmanship prove that efforts could start from our own house.

BRICKS IN BLOSSOM Bringing nature fossils to the interior of urban spaces as reminders of how our survival and wellbeing depend on a balanced ecosystem. Fragments from a forest in the outskirts of an urban area which lacks appropriate green patches. Nature zones are essential for citizens health and contentedness, therefore couldn’t be neglected by politicians and decision makers. In a location that must stay unrevealed, one brick was sent to few important politicians and influencers as anonymous packages representing an initial seed towards a greener city.

PARKSIDE ESTATE I was living at Parkside Estate, an East London council estate. During the pandemic, the interaction with my neighbours grew stronger: more stories, more time at home and more waste. I took the opportunity to re-value the refuse and go beyond the material realm: weave stories, experiences, realities. The interlaced pieces reflect the community's complex mesh and deep sociological undercurrents, shaping my own narrative. Combining storytelling with textiles, the project overlays material with digital, taking the form of a large-scale projection. The digitally woven collages transcend the physical and forge disruptive possibilities through an incorporeal platform - in turn allowing me to explore and reconsider textile practice in a contemporary and future context.
